Virtualization

 Virtualization
Brief Introduction
Virtualization is the application of abstraction to hide the technical detail of a computer's resources through encapsulation. These resources can be software (servers, operating systems, applications, etc.) or hardware (storage devices, processors, etc.). The resulting virtualization can either expose multiple physical resources as a single logical resource or expose a single physical resource as multiple logical resources [4].

Operating System Design Inflences

HOW OPERATING SYSTEM DESIGN INFLUENCES THE DESIGN OF APPLICATIONS AND HOW APPLICATIONS CAN ALSO AFFECT THE DESIGN OF OPERATING SYSTEM

Brief Introduction

First of all operating systems was designed to help applications interact with the computer hardware. While this is still the case, the influence of the operating system on design of applications has grown to the point where the operating system defines the machine. Most users engaged in the Mac PC UNIX battle are arguing about the operating systems on these machines, not the hardware platform itself. The operating system provides a layer of abstraction between the user and the bare machine.

Online Inventory Management System

Abstract
Online Inventory Management System for IT Assets is intended to be an information system that helps in the identification and tracking of Information Services (IS) hardware and software assets. Its three main areas of concern will be: Acquisition, Redeployment and Termination.

Acquisition procedures are established to assist personnel in procurement of software and hardware products.
Redeployment procedures are responsible for ensuring that assets are tracked when moved from one location to another.
Termination is responsible for deleting the asset from the inventory when it is discontinued, or replaced.
The system is maintained within a data base that ties an asset to its owner and defines the location where the asset resides.

Artist management and Sales system

  Abstract

The Artist management and Sales system is web-based program for a musician that will assist an artist to keep records of sales and customers or fans. The system allows a user to navigate between several web applications. The applications include but not limited to
  1. Download application, which allows users to download and listen to the music,
  2. Shopping cart application, which allows users to place orders/buy products/albums
  3. Email application, which allows fans/customers to join email list to receive news and events from the musician.
  4. The Management System, which allows the musician or the administrator to log in and process the CD orders, send emails, and view the sales reports generated by the application.

The following chapters document the system development process for the project.

Introduction:
Covers the detailed project proposal and outlines introduction to the study, motivation of study, methodology, overview of current system, scope and schedule the project will take.

Literature Survey:
This chapter covers more background to study. It also looks into different systems and compares them to the proposed system and how they are related. It also shows how artists and promoters use the system described.

Requirement Analysis:
This chapter covers what system will do, it analyses and outlines the services offered by the system as well as constraints under which system will operate. It covers different areas such as functional analysis, non functional requirements, input requirements as well as output requirements.

Design:
Chapter explains how the system will be designed. It looks at how the system will interact with the user of the system. It shows the processing requirements, the interface requirements, and input requirements and database requirements of the performance system.

Implementation:
Chapter explains how the system was implemented, making sure all program modules are working together and functioning to some standard. Testing the modules and evaluation of the project was done using some candidates from different department.

Performance management system portfolio

Abstract
The performance management system portfolio is web-based program that will assist staff to keep records and assist staff assessment performance. It covers the objective recording pertaining   to document and at the end of a particular period of time. Staff assessment will be graded by using KPI indicator and manually points will be allocated for each of the task.

The following chapters in document the system development process for the project.

Introduction:
